Field note 28Patron picker · A playtest repair

The first brood returns.

Pusling, Bloat Brute and Spore Moth regain their places beneath Vessara’s spells, with real prices, creature descriptions and moving previews.

Lantern Mire · Quality follow-up Inspect the whole brood v0.5.25
Vessara’s patron courtyard with four spell medallions and three smaller creature medallions beneath them.
Actual 0.5.25 exported Godot picker. The three smaller medallions open Pusling, Bloat Brute and Spore Moth. The courtyard figures are illustrations; the round wizard portrait and opened inspectors use game models. Full frame resized, with no retouching.

Shaun noticed that the original god had no minion tiles, while the newer patrons each showed three. The creatures were already in the game; the picker had omitted their entries. This small release restores the missing part of choosing Vessara.

Three creatures, three different jobs

The Pusling carries souls and performs altar sacrifices. The Bloat Brute provides durable melee pressure and a warned area slam. The Spore Moth fires visible ranged spores and tries to keep space between itself and an attacker.

Each tile now shows its actual soul and mana price on hover. Click or keyboard Enter opens the creature’s current model and a description of its role. These are the original Lantern Mire bodies; their planned Meshy upgrade comes later.

Room for wings

The Moth needs its hovering animation rather than the standing idle used by the other creatures. Its inspector now plays the correct clip, and all three bodies fit at normal and enlarged interface text sizes.

Escape closes the inspector and restores keyboard focus. Summon-key remapping appears in the detail panel, and reduced motion freezes both the creature animation and its turntable. Switching to another patron and back restores Vessara’s own roster.

The Spore Moth’s animated model, two-soul thirty-mana price and ranged-skirmisher description in the enlarged inspector.
Actual exported-game inspector at 140% text size. Longer descriptive text scrolls inside the panel; the creature preview and start control stay visible. Captured through an automated engine-input fixture, not a human playtest.

The next interruption to remove

Mouse and keyboard interactions, current prices, creature framing, remapping, reduced motion and patron switching passed in the source project and the packaged Mac build. The other patron pickers, title-to-match flow, standalone startup and archive checks also passed. The previous complete build is preserved.

The Mac was locked for direct desktop interaction, so these checks establish engine behaviour and captured appearance rather than human acceptance. No models, combat rules, audio or soul counts changed in this repair.

Shaun also reported a severe pause on the first spell cast. That is the next investigation, followed by a focused Crimson polish pass and then the remaining faction model upgrades. This picker release does not claim to fix the spell pause.
