A captured stride.

Vessara’s wizard gains Mixamo-based idle, walk and sprint motion, retargeted onto the existing rig with its staff grip and casting preserved.

A one-wizard Mixamo trial Captured motion, fitted to the Wickkeeper. vUnreal 5.8.3 · Mac Apple Silicon
The Wickkeeper strides through the Lantern Mire while carrying its upright staff and glowing lantern.
Staged capture from the exact Mixamo trial Mac package. Scripted movement and a close side camera make the stride easier to inspect; this is not a performance measurement.

The Wickkeeper now moves with recorded human motion. This bounded trial replaces three locomotion clips for Vessara’s wizard: a restrained breathing idle, a walk and a purposeful run. The other three wizards retain their existing animation.

Fit the existing body

Adobe Mixamo supplies the captured motion. The original character mesh, skeleton, staff, lantern and custom spell gestures remain. Blender retargeting adapts limb lengths and foot height, aligns the moving clips to the existing directional cycle, and keeps the staff hand upright. Unreal MCP verified the bone hierarchy and imported animation metadata.

The first walk weakened the spine compression established in the previous pass. The existing motion test caught it. A small response driven by the captured pelvis restored that movement; the test itself stayed unchanged.

The packaged trial

The separate Mac build passes 1,300 gameplay assertions and 88 injected native-input assertions. Local host and guest casting checks confirm preparation, release and effects on the Mire. Eighteen exported-motion checks cover loop continuity, ground contact and staff attachment.

Two matched 420-frame packaged sequences compare the previous and new movement. Sampled close and normal-camera views show distinct knee lift and arm swing with the staff still held. The comparison uses fixed simulation steps and staged movement; it is not an FPS recording.

Still a trial

The game’s fast travel speeds remain unchanged. Clip cadence is adjusted to fit, but terrain-aware foot locking is absent and some sliding remains possible. Close views still expose the original robe and boot skinning limits. Human judgment of weight and feel is the next checkpoint before extending this approach to the other wizards.
